How Can A Loving God Allow Suffering?

The world appears to be exactly as cold, unpitying, and cruel as we would expect if there was no good, loving, powerful God ruling it. So in the face of evil, from genocide to natural disasters to shattered lives, how dare we claim that God exists? Or as one skeptic put it, "I rather hope God is real; on the last day, he will have to answer to me."

Today, Chase and Quinn tackle the problem of evil. The boys take an honest look at their own lives and give a fair overview of the two other major explanations of suffering: atheism and Buddhism. Then finally they turn to the Bible to seriously examine what God wants to teach us about evil and suffering - and they discover that God's response is one of unimaginable love and comfort. It's a heavy episode, but then again it's a heavy question.
